Our Story

A legacy rooted in
this soil

In 1972, the founders of Zaca Mesa looked out over the hillsides above Los Olivos and saw something the rest of the world was just beginning to notice — that this stretch of Santa Ynez Valley, with its cool marine breezes and limestone-rich earth, was destined for greatness.

Nearly five decades later, that vision remains the guiding force. Every vine is tended by hand. Every harvest is guided by patience. The Pinot Noirs we produce carry the bright acidity and dark fruit character that only comes from grapes grown at the edge of the valley, where the fog rolls in and the temperature drops just enough to stretch the season.

Our tasting room sits at the top of the hill — a place where you can taste the landscape itself. Not just the wine, but the light, the wind, the quiet. This is what Los Olivos tastes like.
